Springdale High School is divided into four houses. The entire school including the staff members are actively involved with the house activities. As in nature, the houses emit aroma, splendor, beauty and grace.
Blue Bell
The most popular meaning for bluebells is humility or sometimes gratitude. It is also associated with everlasting love and constancy. Bluebells are also called harebells in Scotland because it is believed that witches turned into hares and hide among the flowers.

Aster
Red Asters with their wildflower beauty and lush texture, asters have long been considered an enchanted flower. In ancient times, it was thought that the perfume from their burning leaves could drive away evil serpents. Today, they’re known as a talisman of love and a symbol of patience.

Green Carnation
Green carnations are for St. Patrick’s Day and were famously worn by the Irish writer Oscar Wilde. The green carnation thence became a symbol of homosexuality in the early 20th century, especially through the book The Green Carnation and Noël Coward’s song, “We All Wear a Green Carnation” in his operetta, Bitter Sweet.

Tulip
TULIP is the acronym for the basic ideas of classical Calvinism. (The simplistic version) T — Total depravity. This doesn’t mean people are as bad as they can be. It means that sin is in every part of one’s being, including the mind and will, so that a man cannot save himself.

CHILD LABOUR (A house activity by VIOLET GROUP)
Child Labour” – the name itself means a lot. Understanding the need to let the society know to stop child labour and save the children of our country, Class VIII took this topic as one of their house activity. The Violet group students of Class VIII under the guidance of one of their group teacher Miss Bonashree Gautam prepared a wall magazine with collected information on the topic with different photos and articles. The members of the group put forward their contribution to prepare the magazine which turned out to a very good experience.
TREES OUR BEST FRIEND (A house activity by Magnolia Group)
On 9th Nov’13 the students from THE MAGNOLIA HOUSE performed two activities which were divided between classes IV till IX. Class IV, V and VI organized a plantation
programme at school premises. Students brought saplings of some flowers and fruits like Marigold, Rose, Jasmine and few scrubs which were planted beside the school boundary and are looked after by the students on regular basis.
The second activity was performed by the students of Classes VII, VIII and IX where they enacted in a skit on “Awareness Programme on Clean Environment” within the school premises. However the students are willing to perform the same skit outside the school premises in the near future.
The VIOLET HOUSE took a trip to Tocklai Research Institute where research on all aspects of tea cultivation and processing is carried out. The Jorhat Tocklai Experimental Station is one of the oldest and largest research stations of its kind in the world. It was a house activity for the month of October 2013. Class IX student with the teachers of their group visited the institute which was a knowledgeable experience for them. They saw different types of tea plants and tea manufacturing process which involved the usage of high tech machines. They were given information regarding different plant diseases and the ways of curing those diseases. They got to see 100 years old mother tea plant as well as 200 years old insect and snake which were being kept preserved. They learned about the 31 clones that were extracted from North East. This visit turned out to be a very successful one where student got the opportunity to acquire vast information about the history of Jorhat Tocklai institute.
(In the field of music and arts the students of THE BLUE BELLS showed a relation and comparison between Indian and Western musical instruments through designing 3D models of both the cultures. Through this comparison the students were able to learn a lot about the origin and build-up of these instruments. The students were able to acquire and convey important information related to this field with the help of the teachers representing this house).
A Social Work Activity was organized by the students of Class IX (ASTER GROUP) with the help of few school teachers.he student along with the teachers went to visit an orphanage ‘Nirmal Hriday’ which is a Mother Teresa Home on 14th Sept 2013.Students collected some old clothes along with some cash which was collected from their own group.
The IRIS GROUP did their first house activity where students of classes IV, V, VI and VII prepared things made out of waste materials which were first recycled. Things like dusters, dustbins, chalk box and mopping clothes were being prepared for school usage by the recycled waste products. Classes VIII prepared a first aid box which comprised of all the necessary things required for the school. While class IX planted trees in the school premises on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti as a house activity.
As part of a house activity THE CAMELLIA HOUSE students from Class IX along with their group teachers Harpreet Ma’am and Mintu Ma’am went to visit a Blind Institute on 18th November 2013. The students of that group raised funds from their end along with items for their daily use. The money raised by the students was used to purchase other important food items. The students met the principal of the blind institute and arranged a program for the amusement and interaction with the blind students. The students got to know about Braille Script the language used to teach the blind students arithmetic and algebra. Then they saw the Braille computer and the way it is being used. Handicrafts items were shown to the students which were made by the blind students.
